Poisoning of students at the Security Academy for the second time,

The repeated scandal of poisoning students at the Security Academy, where food is delivered by catering service from the Sori-Al company, strengthens the shadows of doubt raised about the quality of the products and services offered by Alma Tafani's entity, as well as about the activity of the authority that is tasked with controlling and guaranteeing food safety in the country.

The activity of the Sori-Al company was suspended and the entity was fined 1,500,000 lek for unsafe food and hygienic-sanitary conditions, after the poisoning of dozens of students of the Security Academy in early May.

Analyses in that case confirmed that at least 57 young police officers were poisoned by consuming pasta with Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus, two types of bacteria that cause infections in the human body.

But then, the National Food Authority decided to unblock the activity of the entity "Sori-Al", leaving it the task of conducting self-control analyses for the finished product in the premises of the Armed Forces Garrison, in accordance with the legislation in force.

This decision paved the way for Alma Tafani's firm, which fled after the scandal, to resume supplying three-meal catering to Security Academy students.

The police poisoning scandal is currently being verified by the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, which has sent two official letters to the AKU requesting explanations, initially for the measure to block the Sori-Al company and then for the unblocking of the activity of the private company, with which the Security Academy has a contract.

As part of the investigation, the Tirana Prosecution Office has questioned Ersid Hasanllari, who held the position of director of the AKU for the Capital at the time of the poisoning of the Police Academy students, as well as the director of the Local Health Care Unit, Flutura Polaci. Alma Tafani, the owner of Sori-Al, the wife of businessman Nikolin Jakaj, president of the Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, escaped immediately after the scandal of the poisoning of the Security Academy students, while employees of her company ended up in handcuffs.

The companies of the Jakaj-Tafani couple have, in recent years, been at the center of many scandals related to various violations in tenders for the provision of food services for the sick or cleaning sheets at the QSUT.
