Lawyer Jordan Daci spoke about recent developments in the field of justice, in the wake of the wave of reactions to the arrest of Mayor Veliaj.
Daci said that we are not in the best days of justice and that institutions must be protected. According to him, Veliaj's arrest brought out a side of the system that had not received attention.
" One of the things that was problematic, the justice reform, besides being an experiment, had unfounded conclusions. It has a mandate that is not clearly defined as to where it will end up. The first thing this committee should do is to hold consultations at a broad level, because we are closed within committees.
People expect justice from the Prosecution. The Prosecution is a party, 'it asks for five to get two'. This does not mean it is relieved of responsibility. The pressure and weight falls on the Court that attracts the parties. When someone is appointed to the Court, the family members agree to be wiretapped and they too. It is not the Prosecutor's fault, it is the system's. You have created a system, the balance of a system is maintained by the Court. If the Court fails after failure, it is not the Prosecutor's fault. The Veliaj problem brought out a side that has not received attention. We put thousands of Albanians in prison for an energy bill.
We must bear in mind that prosecutors have been denigrated with some words that are not acceptable. The use of some terms, many of them have professionalism and integrity, but it is not right.
The ILD has no reason to react. It has the tools to inspect. There is no transparency in this area.
"We are not on the best day of justice. Institutions must be protected. SPAK has given some missing examples. Their job is to be an equal party with me and the Court says whether you are wrong or not ," he said when invited to 'Real Story'.
