Analyst Fatos Lubonja has commented on the telephone conversation between Rama and the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Lubonja said that Rama wants Erdogan's support, in order to feel like a "pasha" in Albania. According to Lubonja, Erdogan's demands for those known as "Gülenists" are absurd.
"Rama's relationship with Erdogan has been problematic for a long time. This is because Rama says that I am a champion of pro-Western Albania and it is contradictory that he maintains relations with the Turkish president, because Erdogan has been accused of being an authoritarian leader by the West. However, Turkey is a big, important power. It is enough to understand the attitudes he holds towards Israel. It has joined the charge of genocide against Israel. Rama is a small player who uses Albania's lightweight and plays with both sides.
Rama needed Erdogan's support to feel like a "pasha". In the eyes of Erdogan, Albania is a country of Muslims, which he considers to be a former country of the Ottoman Empire. Erdogan's demands are absurd, because we don't have to get involved in the internal political war within the Turks. Deep down, our prime minister likes Erdogan's model, he has a personal relationship with him. Rama wants to please everyone, except the Albanians ", said Lubonja for "News 24".
