Several were killed and others injured as a result of Russian attacks in Ukraine overnight.

Ukrainian officials announced the strike shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kiev was continuing to seek "long-range weapons solutions" in order to stop Russian airstrikes inside Ukraine.

In a video published today, Zelensky said that during the last week, the Russian army has attacked Ukraine with "more than 800 anti-tank missiles, almost 300 Shahed drones, and with over 60 ballistic missiles".

"Terror can be stopped only in one way: by hitting the airfields of the Russian army, at their bases, and the logistics of Russian terrorism," Zelensky said.

He has repeatedly asked allied countries to allow Ukraine to use the weapons they supply to strike deeper into Russian soil. Zelensky repeated his request 2 days ago during a meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group in Germany.

But US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said after the meeting that no single military weapon is crucial for Ukraine to defend against a full-scale Russian invasion, and that using US weapons for strikes deep inside Russia would not turn the war to Ukraine's advantage.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian military carried out attacks last night and this morning with four remote-controlled missiles from Russia's Belgorod region, as well as 23 Iranian-made Shahed drones.

"Enemy attacks were repulsed by anti-aircraft, mobile artillery groups and units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine," the announcement states.

An elderly couple was killed by Russian bombing in the Ukrainian city of Sumy overnight, officials said Sunday.

"Four other people were injured, including a 2-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy," the local prosecutor's office said.

It is reported that one house was destroyed and 20 others were damaged.

At least one person was killed in a Russian attack on a hotel in the city of Mikolaivka in the Donetsk region, Radio Free Europe's Ukrainian Service reported on Sunday. Rescue teams worked through the night to find two missing people at the scene.

Officials in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, said on Sunday at least two people were killed in an explosion at a car factory.

"Two people have been killed, while it is possible that there are people under the ruins. While a two-story building was partially destroyed," Kyiv's military administration wrote on Telegram, adding that rescue teams are on the scene.
