
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has reacted to the shocking earthquake in Morocco that left around 300 dead and hundreds injured.
Through an announcement on social networks, Scholz expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims of the "devastating" earthquake.
"At this difficult moment, our thoughts are with the victims of this devastating earthquake. Our condolences go out to all those affected by this natural disaster," wrote Scholz, who is attending the G20 summit in India this weekend.
At least 296 people have died after a powerful earthquake struck central Morocco yesterday evening around 11:00 pm local time. The 6.8-magnitude earthquake had its epicenter southwest of Marrakesh, a popular tourist destination.
Many of the victims were said to be in hard-to-reach mountainous areas. Currently, there are said to be 153 people injured.
