The death of the 36-year-old in the port of Piraeus, Mitsotakis reacts: Disgust

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has expressed his disgust for the tragic event in the port of Piraeus where a 36-year-old man was pushed by the crew and drowned in the sea after he was not allowed to board the "Blue Horizon" ferry.

Evaluating a shameful event that does not represent Greece, the Greek Prime Minister writes that justice will do its job, but the loss of the life of a fellow citizen is a danger signal, according to him, of contempt and indifference which turns into violence.

The reaction came after Greek media released footage of crew members pushing 36-year-old Antonis Karyotis as he tried to board the ship. In the forensic report, it is stated that the young man's death was a result of "drowning in the water and head injury".

On the evening of September 6, a 36-year-old man ended up in the vortex of a ship's propeller, after being pushed by some crew members of the "Blue Horizon" ship, in which he tried to board. In order to avoid responsibility for the tragedy caused by not allowing the passenger to board the ship that was going to Crete, the crew lied to the passengers saying that an incident happened and that the ship has no responsibility. Therefore, the captain and crew of the ship were arrested for the death of the 36-year-old.
