The DP lost the 2015 local elections, lost the 2017 parliamentary elections, burned the mandate of its deputies, marking its total collapse, after it left the system in 2019, to put its 'seal' on it by boycotting the 2019 local elections, leaving the entire space of local government to the socialist majority...
There is a surprising truth in all these years in the history of the Democratic Party, a party that changed its headquarters before losing power in the 2013 parliamentary elections! We are not dealing with the fact of how the former SHQUP building on the banks of the Lana River was transferred from the ownership of the Ministry of Defense to the political entity in power at the time, the Democratic Party.
We are not even going into the 'formula' of the speed with which the decision was made to transfer this building from the Defense to the DP, nor the movement of the generals who signed it in a hurry, nor even the movement of the SHQUP administration, also in a hurry, and its transfer to premises that were not at all comfortable for it. And above all, we are not even analyzing the expectations of the new owners of this building, notable for its ample spaces and above all for the ample surface area that surrounded it, precisely at a time when a project like that of the new mosque had just been put on the media market to be discussed and that could extend to the boundaries of this building. We are leaving these aside, we are not discussing them, since they have been discussed enough!
For the sake of truth, in addition to serving the Ministry of Defense, the premises of the SHQUP at that time also served war veterans, as well as various associations related to veterans. It served for activities on anniversaries, for activities on book promotions, but also to organize funeral ceremonies for veterans who passed away in the premises of this building. It was a 'meeting point', in a word, where veterans, those anti-communists but also those of the Antifascist National Liberation War, met each other, for various activities but also to bid each other farewell, in the event of passing away. And this was also one of the functions of today's DP headquarters, before it was transformed into a political headquarters.
What has impressed, and this is also acknowledged in the corridors of the DP headquarters, is the fact that from the moment the leadership, structures and administration of the DP moved into and settled in the new headquarters on the banks of the Lana River, things in this party have gone backwards, without any positive results. On the contrary, from that moment on, the collapse and end of the first opposition party in the country began. To put it in concrete terms, the DP, which moved to the new headquarters on the banks of the Lana River, lost heavily in the summer elections of 2013, receiving over a million votes against, handing power over to the long-time leader of the opposition, Edi Rama. Who continues to govern to this day, with a prediction agreed upon by almost everyone that he will leave power only when he himself decides. That is, when he has placed the Albanian flag on the EU table, with Albania as a member state of the European Union! Then Rama left his 'mark' in history, but even after he had put all the other things in order, for a truly modern Albania!
But the DP lost the 2015 local elections, lost the 2017 parliamentary elections, burned the mandate of its deputies, marking its total collapse, after it left the system in 2019, to put its 'seal' on it by boycotting the 2019 local elections after leaving the entire space of local government to the socialist majority. At the same time, the DP lost the 2021 parliamentary elections, the last elections led by Basha. But the DP lost the 2023 local elections deeply, winning only 6 relatively small and peripheral municipalities. And the 'icing on the cake', to come to the heavy defeat in the parliamentary elections of May 11 of this year, where the opposition led by Berisha, leader of the DP, received only 50 mandates together with its allies, while Rama received a full 83 mandates, and where together with the PSD he goes to 86 mandates, the necessary majority considered for important laws, without encountering the demands for bargaining of the opposition. All these events took place, with the DP in the new headquarters on the banks of the Lana.
But with the transition to the new headquarters of the Democrats, other unusual events have also occurred, such as the organization of the election of the DP chairman according to the principle of 'one member, one vote' after Berisha's fictitious resignation from the post of chairman in 2013. The race was left open for Lulzim Basha, who, while having the total support of Berisha as his heir and political 'son', was facing Sokol Olldashi, a right-wing politician, self-made after coming from the ranks of journalism, who ran a brilliant campaign. Unfortunately, it was in a race where the winner was predetermined, Basha, who was supported by Berisha, won. Olldashi lost to Basha, but he was there with his strong positions in the Assembly, in opposition and against those who had usurped the leadership of the DP. There were also supporters, young politicians but with careers and serious credentials to be the leadership of the DP.
So, the period of over 12 years of the DP's move to the new headquarters on the banks of the Lana River has been a 'pit' in itself, accompanied by strong clashes within the party, expulsions of key figures from the party, violent clashes over the DP headquarters, and even the loss of life of strong people of this party in impossible car accidents, to the extent that it has given 'life' to conspiracy theories, according to which the new headquarters is like a 'wakf' place where nothing good happens, no matter how hard you try. Voices in the DP are not excluded, who say that this party was taken by the 'curse' of Sokol Olldashi, the only adaptable man who could have saved the DP from the collapse that is happening to it daily to this day. In order to make an alternative to power, Berisha denied him this opportunity, investing in Lulzim Basha, as a pliable and obedient man, even though it was an investment that went to waste!
At the same time, 'superstitious' voices, while describing the new DP headquarters as a 'waqf' place, where funeral rites for veterans were also performed, say that this party has also been beset by the 'curse' of veterans, which is impossible to cure in the future. Lower and lower it will fall, according to them! Even Basha's frequent visits and prayers to the Church of St. Ndout in Laç, before the 2021 elections and before Berisha's attack on the DP headquarters on January 8, a year later, did not yield results! Basha's visits and prayers to the old miraculous church have been made public, they were published in the media at that time! We cannot accuse Berisha, since he is an atheist, an infidel and does not go to either the church or the mosque! He is the new-typical man created by Enver Hoxha!
But, despite these conspiratorial and superstitious voices that link the collapse of the DP to the curse of Olldashi and the veterans, we are convinced that the pure truth is that the DP will not do any good not only in the 2029 elections, but also in the 2033 elections, since it has at its head the only curse it has had since the beginning of time, Berisha. He is the source of all evil in this party, and it is predicted that he will go towards 'eternity' together with him! He will take the DP with him, in a word! We will be here, and we will see!
