The Korça Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigations and sent Armando Tarushllari and Gëzim Latja, accused of being the perpetrators of the murder of Arjan Xhambazi in Greece, on December 7, 2008, to trial.
Tarushllari and Latja, currently in the security measure of "prison arrest", are accused of the criminal offense of 'Intentional Murder' committed in collaboration, as provided for in articles 76 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
"Referring to the acts, evidence and indications administered during the preliminary investigation phase, it is proven beyond any doubt that the defendants GL and AT alias JC alias A. Xh. alias MD alias MC alias AD on 07.12.2008, at around 00:10 in the Athens area on "Efpalinu" street, in collaboration with each other, after a violent conflict between two Albanian groups for weak motives, caused citizen A.Xh. injuries to various parts of the body as a result of blows with hands/fists, sticks and a knife, where referring to the autopsy as the cause of death, it was concluded that there was severe damage to the left part of the chest and heart as a result of the fatal blows", announced the Korça Prosecutor's Office.
The execution of Xhambazi was recorded in the "Karamali Kipseri" garden in Athens, as the cause was a conflict created between the couple Elvira and Flamur Demiri.
Due to the violence inflicted by Flamur Demiri, Elvira had left his apartment and had found shelter at the house of her friend, Merita Hima. Flamur went to Rita's apartment to pick up his wife, but she refused to leave the house, as he was drunk, fearing physical violence.
Everything happened because of a conflict within the family that later escalated into a fight between two groups, who used knives, hard objects, and forks.
As a result of the violent conflict, Arjan Xhambazi died from stab wounds, Flamur Demiri suffered serious injuries, and Ibrahim Demiri suffered minor injuries to his hand.
For years, the two perpetrators of the crime, Tarushllari and Latja, have remained at large, but in May 2024 they were arrested following a decision issued by the Korça Court and are now expected to face trial.
