The Chairman of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, Agron Duka, has commented on the next steps that the opposition should take with the start of the new parliamentary session.
He stressed the need for a profound reorganization of the opposition, expressing concern about the future of holding elections in the country.
"The elections were certified, but they have many problems. What worries me is the future of elections in Albania. If it continues on the same path, we risk ending up in a system with one party and several satellites called the opposition ," said Duka.
Duka emphasized that the opposition has a great mission to reorganize and build a strong political structure, on the same level as the left's organization, which he considered excellent and constantly improving.
According to Duka, the problem no longer lies in ideology, as citizens are increasingly pragmatic and seek concrete solutions. He expressed his belief that in the face of a consolidated majority, the opposition must stop the division and focus on building a credible alternative.
"I have not participated in any roundtable with allies, we have not held meetings at the blue headquarters. We have a deputy who will be in Parliament. In my opinion, the boycott has been tried and has not yielded results. We need a parliamentary fight," he told "News 24".
The Chairman of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party emphasized that the opposition should not exclude any critical voice and that it is time to bring all opposition actors closer together again.
"The opposition does not have the luxury of leaving anyone out. The time has come to unite, because there are some who oppose the opposition more than the government ," he added.
Among the opposition's biggest mistakes over the years, Duka mentioned non-participation in local elections, burning mandates, and non-involvement in territorial reform, describing these as serious and difficult wounds to recover from.
In conclusion, he emphasized that the reorganization of the Democratic Party is essential to regain the trust of the electorate, especially the gray layer that decides the outcome of the elections.
"The opposition has 50 MPs, that's not a small number. We need to diversify the ways of being the opposition, in parliament and on the streets, but the most important thing is for the DP to move the structures and be present at the grassroots level," stressed Duka.
