Oprah Winfrey recently revealed that she had kept an incident involving legendary singer Whitney Houston a secret for years.
According to her account, Houston fell off the stage on the day she was scheduled to perform on Oprah Winfrey's show. She said she had asked those present not to publish photos of the event, as she believed it could seriously damage the singer's image.
Winfrey also added that Houston had been drug-free during a previous interview, but had later relapsed into substance use, and that the on-stage incident occurred while she was suspected of being under the influence.
Her statements have caused immediate reactions.
Whitney Houston's representative has responded to TMZ, categorically denying these claims. According to him, the singer fell during the voice test due to the darkness and unfamiliarity of the stage, and not due to substance use.
He also stressed that it is not fair to link every moment of her life to addiction, demanding that Houston's story be handled carefully and based on facts.
Whitney Houston passed away in February 2012, at the age of 48. According to official reports, the cause of death was accidental drowning in a bathtub, while heart disease and cocaine use were also cited as factors.
Meanwhile, the case has reopened discussions in the media about how public figures are treated and how past events are interpreted in light of new statements.
