Josh Duhamel reveals his personal 'paradise' in nature and his decision to leave glamorous Hollywood behind, choosing a more peaceful and authentic lifestyle in Minnesota.
The actor, known for his role in the film Transformers, speaking in an interview about his life away from the public eye, explained that the motivation behind his choice to live in a cabin far from the city was the need for peace and quiet and away from the distractions of modern society.
“One reason I built my house in Minnesota, deep in the woods, is because it’s far from everything,” he told Parade. “The nearest store is 40 miles away. There, life is about taking care of each other — making memories and spending time with family and friends.”
With his wife, Audra Mari, and their 1-year-old son, Shepherd, as well as his 11-year-old son, Axl, from his marriage to Fergie, Josh Duhamel has found a way to rekindle his connection to nature and community.
The actor spent 15 years working hard to create the ultimate Minnesota mansion, building his home from scratch. At one point, he was even forced to wash dishes in the lake near his home until the groundwork was completed.
“It brought me closer to the essence of life. There’s something about it that fills your soul in so many ways,” he said. He says being in touch with the land and living everyday life without the unnecessary luxuries of Hollywood helps him focus on true values.
The actor's enjoyment of nature is something he learned from his childhood in North Dakota, where he grew up riding horses. Now, in Minnesota, he finds peace working on his tractor and spending time in nature.
"I'm always there doing something, just passing the time. It's like a big playground," he said, explaining that his greatest joy is seeing his children experience the same connection with nature.
Josh Duhamel, an actor and former model, began his career in the early 2000s and gained fame with his participation in the television series “All My Children”, where he played the character Leo du Pres, a role for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2002. However, the role that affirmed him internationally was in the film series “Transformers” (2007, 2009, 2011), where he played Captain William Lennox. His participation in Michael Bay’s films gave him great recognition and affirmed him as one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. He was married to singer Fergie, a member of the group The Black Eyed Peas. The two married in 2009 and had a son, Axl. However, in 2017 they announced their separation. Their divorce was finalized in 2019. Despite their decision to separate, they maintain a good relationship for the sake of their son.
