Albania continues to be Serbia's "nightmare." As if the 1-0 defeat wasn't enough for the latter, they are now also being punished by FIFA.
Their racist chants against Albanians and the national team have not gone unnoticed by FIFA. Thus, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has punished the Serbian Football Federation for the actions of the fans in the duel against the Rossoneri.
The penalty amounts to a hefty 87,500 Swiss francs (93,981 euros), with fans cheering during the Albanian anthem as well as some discriminatory actions and behavior during the match.
But not only that, as the Serbian Federation has also been punished with 25% of the stadium closing for the next challenge in the World Cup qualifiers. Thus, against Latvia, Serbia will play with a limited number of fans. It is also worth noting that before the duel with the Latvians they will challenge England on the move.
" Considering past experiences and millions in fines paid not only when matches are played on our field, but also due to incidents in away matches, the Football Federation of Serbia will not take over the organized sale of tickets for the match against England, nor will it be responsible for the behavior of the fans ," the Serbian Football Federation's response reads, among other things.
Recall that on October 11 in Leskovac, Albania managed to triumph 1-0 over Serbia. The decisive goal of the match was scored by Rei Manaj. The red and black striker celebrated with an eagle.
