Just two days after the 2026 World Cup final, where Spain triumphed 1-0 over Argentina thanks to Ferran Torres' goal in the second half of extra time, Argentine media have shed light on another possible duel between the two teams.
According to ESPN Argentina, Spain and Argentina are set to face off again, this time in the Finalissima, the traditional match between the European champion and the South American champion. The match was originally scheduled for March of this year, but was postponed.
The report states that talks between the parties are at an advanced stage and the aim is for the match to take place in Qatar, at the legendary "Lusail" stadium, which also hosted the 2022 World Cup final.
The choice of this facility is related to the fact that the Qatari government owns the rights to organize this match, making "Lusail" the most likely destination for the super challenge.
Although there is no official date yet, according to ESPN Argentina sources, the match is expected to be played in November, during the FIFA window reserved for national team matches.
