Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, has reacted on social media after the demolition of several buildings in Theth, at the height of the tourist season.
According to her, the situation created is a direct consequence of the so-called "Mountain Package", which she described as the Trojan Horse for northern Albania.
"The Mountains Package is not solving, but is robbing the properties of residents in the north. It is a law that is being used to favor the same permanent clients through the strategic investment model. The government has sold this law as a solution, but in reality it has become a tool for destruction and insecurity," said Tabaku.
The Democratic MP raises the alarm about the way the government is acting in the middle of the tourist season, damaging local communities and the image of Albanian tourism. She emphasized that constructions considered illegal have been erected in the eyes of local and central governments, but now face selective and one-sided attacks.
"This is a state that does not prevent, but strikes in an organized and politically directed manner. All this behavior has produced injustice towards Albanians and a tourist season tainted by abuse of power," Tabaku concluded.
She demands full transparency about the projects being developed in mountainous areas and an end to the clientelist politics that, according to her, is destroying local tourism.
