The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, arrived this Friday at the Administrative Court, where the lawsuit he filed against SPAK prosecutor Ols Dado is expected to be reviewed.
Actors Gaz Paja and Robert Ndrenika were also seen in the courtroom, supporting Veliaj. The mayor is currently under investigation for 13 criminal charges, including high-level corruption, money laundering, false declaration of assets, abuse of office, and possession or possession of prohibited items in custody.
In the lawsuit filed with the Administrative Court, Veliaj opposes the appointment of Ols Dado as prosecutor, claiming that he was appointed in violation of the law.
According to the mayor's claims, Dado has not completed the Magistrate's School and consequently does not meet the legal criteria for exercising the duties of a prosecutor.
On the other hand, Veliaj's lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, requested that the hearing be held publicly. He stated that the case is being attempted to be closed through procedures that, according to him, limit the transparency and legitimacy of the plaintiff.
According to Ndreca, the documents and evidence administered so far show that the President of the time, Bamir Topi, signed the decree appointing Ols Dado without conducting full verifications of the legal conditions required by the position.
