An attempt to import 46 kilograms of cannabis into Albania has been foiled at Rinas International Airport by the Customs Administration, in cooperation with the State Police.
According to the official announcement, during the scanning of the baggage of passengers on a flight from Toronto to Rinas, two suitcases were identified that raised suspicions. After the physical search, in the presence of their owners, 46 kilograms of suspected narcotics of the Cannabis sativa type were seized, divided into 89 packages.
The two people who were in possession of the luggage, along with the seized narcotics, were handed over to the State Police structures for the performance of procedural actions and the continuation of investigations.
The Customs Administration announced that the operation was carried out within the framework of controls based on risk analysis and emphasized that it will continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to prevent and crack down on drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
