The well-known lawyer, Romeo Kara, has revealed the untold story behind the arrest of former president Ilir Meta.
In an interview for "SOT" newspaper, Kara said that Ilir Meta may have attempted to leave Albania for Hungary because he was aware that he would be imprisoned, just like the former Macedonian prime minister, a friend of the former president.
According to him, Meta visited Macedonia where he met with people close to Gruevski. On the other hand, the lawyer has listed the facts from the SPAK file that have sunk Meta in the "CEZ-DIA" affair. He said that the woman who hurt the former president is Kastriot Ismailaj's wife.
- Lawyer Kara, former president Ilir Meta confessed from the cell, as during an interview he revealed that there were offers to escape and that, according to him, bandits kidnapped him in the middle of the road, referring to the action of the the police, who arrested him a few days ago. Have a comment?
Evaluating Ilir Meta's behavior, especially during the last year, I am convinced that he knew very well that the truth about the three processes surrounding him was being revealed and that he would be arrested by SPAK. This is exactly what has conditioned his public disorganization, quarrels in the family, the party and the accusatory and denigrating attitude towards the prosecution body. Likewise, I have been and am sure that the safest and most sincere offer to escape was the one who made it to himself. It is not at all surprising that he tried to leave Albania, perhaps to Hungary, where, following the example of his Macedonian brother, he sought political asylum. It is not for nothing that I believe that he visited Macedonia, where he met with people close to Gruevski.
His recent movements in Kosovo and Albania, as well as his phone calls, should be well looked at, which would give us the full picture of the truth about his claims. However, he probably planned to leave, which is why the arrest warrant may have been executed. The departure is one of the reasons for this measure. Moreover, all the accusations he has made in recent months against his family members and associates have proven the best that he does not have even the smallest particle of manliness to face justice. He showed that he is from that strain that also sells his brother for his b…..e. Men who face, keep calm and defy fate with pride, while the man was not like that at all.
-Ilir Meta speaks from prison about his acquaintance with Elvis Mataj and Kastriot Ismaili, while emphasizing that the one who accuses him from the USA molested the girls in the Jala camp. How do you see this statement and how far are these claims?
Ilir Meta denies the family and no longer Mataj and Ismailaj. His only weapon has been and is denial. Throughout this year, he denied the relationship with Ismailaj and the trip with him to Prague and also denied that he was the minister of METE in November-December 2010. From the official verifications of the SPAK, it was irrefutably established that: Ilir Meta was appointed Minister of Economy on September 14, 2010. The DIA-CEZ contract starts on September 1, 2010. Ismailaj was present at the CEZ supervisory council meeting on September 15, 2010, illegally, with the direct authorization of Meta as a candidate to replace Čiko . Precisely at this time, says Çiko, in every communication with CEZ, Ismailaj was also mentioned. Not only that, but he physically participated in many meetings on energy issues, in some of which Meta himself was present.
His visit to Prague with Ismailaj and Čiko is officially confirmed. This is also confirmed by the letter of the Albanian embassy in Prague, which precedes this visit on November 18, 2010, sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Meta and Ismailaj left Rinasi at the same time and date: December 29, 2010, 13:43 and returned at the same time and date on December 2, 2010. They left with Austrian and returned with Malev. The same police officer processed them at the exit to the VIP area. Ilir Çiko confirms the meeting of Meta and Ismailaj with the leaders of CEZ, where he, Ismailaj and Majlind Lazimi were also present in the meeting. In January 2011, Meta resigned as minister of METE. Čiko and Lazimi have returned from Prague faster than Meta and Ismailaj. Çiko says that he met Ismailaj since August 2010 in Vienna, accompanied by Jozef Hejsek.
Çiko claims that Ismailaj participated in many meetings related to energy without having any quality. In the period April 13, 2010 - September 17, 2010, 77 phone calls and SMS were made from Meta to Ismailaj on only one phone number and 38 calls to Ismailaj's other number for the same period of time. SMS messages were also found in August 2010 from Meta to Vojsava Ismailaj. So we have 115 communications in a few months between Meta and Ismailaj. Thomas Pleskash has confirmed the meetings with Meta and Ismailaj. On June 22, 2009, Meta sends an SMS to Ismailaj where he asks for a meeting and 200,000. The "DIA-CEZ" agreement was announced by Meta to Dritan Prifti in May or June 2010. Meta asked Prifti to offer Ismailaj and DIA to CEZ. According to the Priest, Meta called Jozef Hejseku to the office twice in July 2010, where he asked him to sign the contract with DIA and Ismailaj.

- Kryemadhi justifies Ilir Meta by saying that he was not aware of many of the actions and decisions she took. Do you think that she is trying to protect her ex-husband, taking it upon herself that all the accusations that are in the file of SPAK, according to her, came as a result of her uncoordinated actions with Meta?
They are coordinated like no other in their atrocities. Facts and evidence will show this. Their demagoguery, that Meta was not aware of what he was signing, is beyond any gallant limit. I don't know of any other second instance where there has been such an allegation before the prosecuting authority and the public as well. The invalidity of the acts in these cases is achieved according to the law within the defined time limits (maximum one year), clearly arguing the reasons for the deviation. I do not believe that Meta will also be legally irresponsible, and it is not our problem to justify whether the woman has given as much as she could to her husband, the president, while he was giving to the whole people.
- Why is Kryemadhi justifying Ilir Meta by saying that she is mentioned in the file and that Ilir was not aware of every movement and decision?
First, she is more of a man than the man, and secondly, they want the man to continue politics as an innocent, running the PL gang, businesses and exerting political pressure on the process. As far as I can see, hardly anyone from their family remains untouched by justice. Surely, the battery of the Meta-Kryemadhi family will be an unrepeatable case study not only by us, but also by international criminal doctrine.
- How do you see his situation in prison?
I see it as deserved, so much so that I think that only now has the dignity of the institution that it is and should be returned to the prison. I wish him good luck for others and stay there as long as possible because he begged with all the means to be there. As far as I can see, he is now beginning to believe that his being in prison is no longer a dream, but a dream. Now he is realizing that he has a long battle ahead, that he will face the law that he did not even acknowledge existed until yesterday and that he will stay there for a long time. Very soon his arrogance is superimposed by another condition, that of denying the crime and justifying the circumstances. He is now acting like an accused. This is very important./ Gazeta Sot
