Monday's meeting of the Vlora Municipal Council was accompanied by a moment of tension and unusual situations. Two young men forced their way into the hall in a sign of revolt over the 5-year delays in the expropriation process of their apartment.
One of them, David Danaj, later explained that his action came after two of his houses were demolished a month ago and he had still not received compensation, despite promises.
He spoke exclusively on the Puls show on A2 CNN, where he said: " They had been dragging me around for a month. I was headed to the City Hall, but they told me that the City Council meeting was being held. My soul was broken. These people have desecrated my property, my family. They destroyed two of my houses and I still haven't received a single lek. I call on Albanians to stand up and demand their rights against this system ."
Danaj added that after the incident he was escorted by the police, but without any problems, stressing that he had not offended or threatened anyone. Asked about the courage of this action, he said that he was inspired by the protests in Paris: “ There I felt a spiritual liberation. Here the state is asleep, the system is radical. Everyone is afraid. I was waiting for someone to come out and explain to me, but the mayor brought the police to me .”
