The Dubai Police arrested one of the most wanted persons, Amant Josif, who is involved in large fraud schemes with call centers, a week ago. It is about an Albanian citizen, who has strong connections in the Albanian government.
"Pamphlet" has several times denounced Josif's connections with Olta Xhaçka and Olsi Rama, while today we will show how the Albanian state protected him until the end, but it was the Spanish police and INTERPOL that arrested him.
According to the Spanish file, the "Milton Group" organization, where Josifi is accused of being a member, has defrauded thousands of people in Spain and other EU countries and has benefited through fraud tens of millions of euros.
Protection from the authorities
In several operations carried out in October-November 2022, the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime, SPAK, in cooperation with the Spanish authorities and Europol, raided 6 call centers in Albania linked to the 'Milton Group' and arrested 4 suspects .
But at that time Amant Josifi was not on the wanted list. Although Spain had announced him as a person who should be arrested, the Albanian authorities never handcuffed him. Also, the scandal is that he was never declared an international wanted by SPAK and the police, although he had committed the crime in our country.
Some time ago, the Project for Corruption and Organized Crime Reporting (OCCRP) dedicated an article to Josif and they also stated that SPAK and the Albanian police protected him.
The article said authorities refused to answer multiple questions from OCCRP, saying it was impossible to provide details about the wanted people due to "investigative secrecy."
Only after a journalist made three requests to the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) and two to the police did the prosecutors issue a statement confirming that Spain had issued a warrant for Josif. They emphasized that the order was not issued by Albania, but added: "As long as an Albanian citizen is wanted internationally by foreign authorities, that person is definitely wanted in Albania." The police did not respond to OCCRP's questions about what was being done to trace Josif ," the article states.
The Albanian police even hid the arrest. Even though the announcement came a week before he was arrested, the police reacted only yesterday after former Prime Minister Berisha denounced him.
