Will the old crimes of politics be revealed? Albanians have only been robbed for 30 years, but the thieves are still in politics....
The Special Prosecutor's Office is still unable to access the old files. In 30 years, Albanians have been robbed massively, but those who embezzled millions are still untouchable, at least for now.
When SPAK was created, it faced a large number of lawsuits and there are files that, if opened, would shake politics. Until now SPAK has focused on crimes of recent years, causing old files to be forgotten. But what are they?
Before the Serious Crimes were merged, Izet Haxhia filed a lawsuit against Sali Berisha for 23 crimes. It's about all the crimes that rocked the country, from pyramid schemes to trafficking and murder. Haxhia testified two days in a row to Serious Crimes and after this prosecution was dissolved, the file was transferred to SPAK, but it has remained in oblivion for more than 3 years.
Another similar file is that of the Haklaj family. They sued Berisha and many others for the murder of their sons. A year ago, Aishe Haklaj also testified for almost 12 hours. This file is also covered in dust, as it seems to have been forgotten.
Another file is that of CEZ-DIA. It is about a lawsuit by the lawyer Romeo Kara, the lawsuit filed in Serious Crimes against Berisha, Meta and some officials. The file was transferred to SPAK. A year ago, the prosecution interrogated Ilir Meta and several other names, but there has been no further development.
The same with the "Partizani" file. A year ago, some soldiers and people who knew about the privatization of Partizani club properties were questioned, but the prosecution did not call Berisha, his son-in-law or other names.
Undoubtedly, a file in oblivion is that of Monika Kryemadhi's connections with the Russians. Facts came out some time ago about her contacts with Moscow and investigations were even started, but again there has been no development from SPAK. Here we can also mention aesthetic interventions, as the Meta-Kryemadhi couple is being investigated for them. There were lawsuits against them for concealment of wealth and corruption, but SPAK did not catch them at all.
A very sensational file that was expected to bring earthquakes is that of the murder of former banker Artan Santo. In 2021, SPAK restarted the investigation and it was expected to clear up. More than two years have passed and no one knows who killed Santo. The names of politicians involved have also been mentioned, but the investigations have stalled.
Meanwhile, there are several other files that SPAK has been investigating for years. The files are under investigation, but cannot be copied. It remains to be seen when SPAK will manage to uncover those crimes that have really shocked the country and those responsible will face justice. / Pamphlet
