Journalist Artan Hoxha has stated that Fredi Beleri's letter from prison was not written by him, since according to Hoxha he does not have enough baggage to write such a letter.
In an interview for "Euronews Albania", he said that the purpose of that letter was more for the internationals in Tirana to hear it.
The same thing, said Hoxha, can be said with the banner unfurled in Himare demanding the release of Beler, written neither in Albanian nor in Greek, but in English.
" I saw Beler's letter today... We have seen Beler in the media since 2000, when he was causing riots in Himara, today Himara is rioting from Beleri. We know more or less the formation and the way it articulates, how much baggage it has. That letter seems to have been written by a subtler, more cunning mind than Beller's. That letter was more for EU countries, internationals, the OSCE and EU office in Tirana to listen to. If you notice today's banner in Himarë was neither Albanian nor Greek, it was English. To show that Albania is committing a serious violation of human rights in the minority area of Himara, which is not true, that it is not a minority area and Beleri is a person who was caught buying votes.
