Around 1,100 kg of cocaine have been seized during an operation by the Civil Guard and National Police in Spain, while 8 people have been arrested, including 7 Albanians.
The operation took place in the Salna region, while the cocaine was found hidden on the Vilanova coast.
The drug traffickers abandoned the dinghy in Vilanova as soon as they realized they had been discovered.
These are the images published by the Civil Guard and the Spanish National Police during the joint operation they carried out in recent hours and which enabled the dismantling of a criminal organization that was importing drugs into Galicia through Salnés.
As part of this operation, 1,100 kilograms of cocaine were seized, which was stored on the coast of Vilanova when the seven Albanians were arrested. The incident occurred in the Rego do Alcalde area, in the same area where another raft with similar characteristics appeared on Christmas Eve.
As part of this so-called “Operation Barona”, agents also seized a pistol, vehicles and communication equipment. Since November last year, this Albanian organization based in the Salnés region has been under investigation. In mid-December, it was found that the speedboat was heading out to sea with four people on board and in the early hours of yesterday a GJE group of the National Police caught them as they were unloading the goods, also arresting those who were preparing to load and transport them in the vehicles that had taken them there, in Rego do Alcalde.
The North American DEA, the Portuguese Judicial Police and French Customs actively collaborated in this successful investigation conducted by the Civil Guard and the National Police.
