The expert on security issues, Fatjon Softa, stated in a television program that the laundering of accounts is being done in Belgium, while he explained why the Belgian prosecutor came to Tirana.
" Firstly, Belgium is the place where the Sky Enchrochat application was broken down and informed SPAK with files and where it helped a lot by clarifying these interceptions to create a kind of procedure against criminal groups at SPAK.
The second is the increase in the aggressiveness of criminal groups and the concern towards them because they are also washing their accounts in these territories. The third is a line of cooperation between Albania and Belgium, which have an advanced criminal activity. Albania is today the country where there is money laundering ", he said.
He pointed out that between Albania and Belgium, joint investigative groups have been set up to fight organized crime.
"We set up joint investigation groups between the Albanian and Belgian ones in the joint fight against criminal groups that exercise activity in Belgian territory, but not only, but also money laundering, or the money they bring from Belgium and the activities they carry out related with gangs and foreign groups operating in those territories. This type of line is important to jointly fight organized crime that is also affecting this country of the European Union ", said Softa.
