Gjici is being punished for passive corruption and abuse of office. In his request to judge Suela Lika, the defense lawyer relied on article 59/a point C of the Criminal Code, according to which a convicted person who has less than 2 years left in prison can stay at home due to the condition health.
Safet Gjici, sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment, still has 1 year and 2 months of remaining sentence to pay, meanwhile he is currently hospitalized in a private hospital.
According to the lawyer, Gjici suffered from problems earlier, but the difficult psychological situation in prison has also worsened his health.
