Lawyer and activist Edlira Çepani stated that the mobilization of citizens is a consequence of the dissatisfaction accumulated over the years and the lack of representation of various social groups, especially young people.
Çepani described the protest as one of the most inspiring civic movements of recent decades. According to her, the protest is attended by citizens from different categories who feel unappreciated and unheard by state institutions.
"There are people who are tired of the lack of appreciation and respect for their dignity. In the protest we see young people, families and the elderly, therefore representatives of many layers of society," she told News24.
Commenting on the reasons for the increase in public dissatisfaction during this period, Çepani argued that the accumulated problems in various fields have reached a critical point.
According to her, young people are among the groups that have felt least involved in public policies and today are expressing their dissatisfaction through protest.
"Why now? Because the cup has been filled in all areas and sectors, the glass has been poured from the last drop. It has gone to where it can no longer hold, especially for the youth, who have not even been the focus of government policies."
"Today, these young people are teaching us a lesson by protesting the injustices they face in their lives. People need to be listened to more and more seriously. Citizens are clear about things that are not going well," said the activist.
