From January 1, the implementation of the new law on income will begin, which affects all individuals, commercial companies, natural or legal persons conducting business.
In order to enable the continuation of implementation with a VKM some tax declarations will continue to be made according to the old law, in a simplified way
"In the normative act, we have provided that a series of declarations related to the list of payments will start to be applied from January 1, 2025, or the withholding tax declaration, as well as the declaration of individual income." - states v. Minister of Finance, Vasilika Vjero.
But what will be the total number of businesses that are included in the tax and the revenues that the government is expected to collect in the budget from them?
"Out of 120,000, there are about 29,000 entities that have paid zero tax to date. We have predicted effects in the amount of 6.8 billion ALL and these effects come directly from the statements that these entities have made throughout the year 2023"
The tax also includes the categories of those who deal with the daily rental of accommodation structures on online platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.
"If an entity is registered with Airbnb, as a commercial individual it will have to enter the progressive tax with the rates of 15-23%. And in the case when we are dealing with individuals, that is, there are many individuals who register their housing units on AirBnb or other platforms, then individuals will have to pay a 15% tax rate. It is not necessary that this rate be paid every month, but it will be paid once a year through the individual income statement submitted in the first quarter of the year."
In the new law, the government has determined that another group of businesses, almost 90 thousand of them, considered small family businesses, will return to the tax regime in 2029./TCH
