The seal in Berisha's hands, Arbi Agalliu leaves the PD group

After Enkelejd Alibeaj, another deputy of the Democratic Party has left the Parliamentary Group, after the seal passed by a court decision into the hands of Sali Berisha.

Arbi Agalliu is the second democratic deputy to leave the DP Parliamentary Group.

Through a reaction on social networks, Agalliu makes it known that he stands by right-wing principles, but he cannot stand in a parliamentary group, where the stamp and logo have been passed to a non-woman like former Prime Minister Berisha.

Agalliu says that neither the seal nor the logo make you a democrat, but your attitudes and principles, beliefs and faith.

He further adds that the right must be reorganized into a new political formation, which includes new figures, not involved in corruption and who have the support of international allies.

"Dear friends, well-wishers and democrats! The latest political developments have put to the test each of us who are part of it. In these three years, despite the internal conflicts that created a vacuum of opposition to this corrupt government and model of abuse, personally I tried to do my best.

In politics, especially in developed and democratic countries, coherence in attitudes is very significant. Unfortunately, in the Albanian reality, we have politicians who call a white person black, make the one they accuse and insult the most precious partner or change their attitudes 180° within a day. In my eyes, these are politicians who either have personal problems and troubles or are puppets of third parties. These can never be an alternative and hope for Albania.

Based on my background and principles, I have tried to be coherent in the discourse and positions I have held.

From the beginning I have believed that the political transition must end. The old political class that has held this country hostage will have to go. Corrupt politicians, those of yesterday and those of today, will have to be fought with any means because they are the cancer of society.

I believed and believe that any effort to develop democracy in Albania will have to be done alongside our strategic allies such as the USA, the EU and the United Kingdom.  I believed and believe that justice in this country, with all the problems it may have, should be supported unconditionally, especially in the fight against corruption at high levels and against organized crime.

Based on these principles, I have maintained my positions throughout these years. I firmly believe that the corrupt yesterday cannot be the future. As I firmly believe that each one of us must be clear in his division with evil and with what cannot be an alternative for the Albania of 2025.

The last decision of the Court of Appeal unfortunately decided that the largest opposition party should go to Sali Berisha, who represents a policy that does not coincide with my convictions, apart from the problems he has with justice or with countries that are symbols of democracy.

Today we need an opposition away from the shadow of corruption and that inspires hope for Albanians. Unfortunately, a group or party that has people with problems in its leadership cannot be an alternative.

Based on my positions so far and what I believe, today I express my departure from the DP Parliamentary Group.

Neither the seal nor the logo make you a Democrat, but your attitudes and principles, beliefs and faith. Neither the former state security, nor the former secretaries of the party and youth, nor their indoctrinated can represent the right and the democrats. I strongly believe that the right needs reorganization, unification and DISTANCE from any factor that does not represent it", writes Agalliu.
