The Kremlin has stated that Europe cannot play the role of mediator in the conflict in Ukraine, arguing that European countries have openly sided with Kiev.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, during a press conference, said that weapons supplied by European countries are being used directly against Russia, which, according to him, excludes the European Union from any possible mediatory role.
"At the moment, Europe is a party to the conflict alongside Ukraine. Let's not forget that European weapons are firing directly at us, and it is impossible to ignore this. Therefore, of course, Europe cannot claim to be mediating in any way," Peskov was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.
At the same time, he criticized Brussels for its stance towards Moscow, calling the rejection of dialogue one of the biggest mistakes of European diplomacy.
"The biggest mistake that Europeans and citizens of Brussels are making is that they categorically reject any dialogue with Russia. But it is impossible to resolve and discuss issues without dialogue. This is the main cause of the impasse in our relations," he said, quoted by Tass.
The Kremlin's latest statements come at a time when tensions between Russia and the West remain high due to the war in Ukraine. In this context, the European Union's role as a mediator continues to be opposed by Moscow, which considers the European bloc positioned in favor of one side of the conflict.
Nazismi nuk ka dialog, vec plumbin ballit. BRSS nuk hyri ne dialog me nazismin Hitlerian, keshtu si mund te hyje ne dialog Europa me nazismin Putinian? Dhe nazizste Ruse jane me te ndyre se nazistet Hitleriane, sepse akuzojne kundershtarin kur jane vete. Ligesi hesapi.
