Vienna police have foiled an attack at a train station, with a 14-year-old suspected as the possible perpetrator. The attack was due to take place on February 10 at Vienna's West Station.
During searches at the teenager's home, detailed plans for the attack on the train station and two knives were found, as well as various materials indicating that the teenager was a "Daesh supporter."
The young man also had in his possession a plan to make bombs.
According to the Austrian press, the boy intended to kill several people. Authorities, who began monitoring the young man's online activity after he downloaded "relevant materials," acted in time to stop the attack.
The starting point for the investigation was information sent to the State Directorate of Defense and Intelligence that a supporter of a terrorist organization had spread stories and videos with Islamic ideas on various TikTok profiles.
The arrest comes four days after a knife attack in the southern Austrian city of Villach. Last Saturday, a 23-year-old Syrian man killed a teenager and injured five people.
Authorities say the man was radicalized after watching ISIS videos on social media.
