American journalist Tucker Carlson, who is visiting Moscow, announced that he will interview Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a video posted on X, the former conservative Fox News host said he would interview Putin, saying that's the job of journalists.
"Because it is our job. We are in journalism. Our task is to inform the world" , he said.
He will be the first American to interview Putin since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine began nearly two years ago.
He emphasized that he received a guarantee from Elon Musk that the interview will not be censored and will be posted normally on X.
Carlson has been in Russia since last week. The Kremlin, earlier on Tuesday, declined to comment. Russian media showed photos of Carlson in various parts of the Russian capital.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was also asked if Carlson had visited the Russian administration building in central Moscow, but he chose not to comment.
"I do not comment on the movements of an American journalist ," said Peskov.
