During the year 2023 Artificial Intelligence has been the 'hot' topic of the year whether it will be a revolutionary good or an apocalyptic disaster for humanity. Therefore, Collins Dictionary has crowned artificial intelligence as the "word of the year".
The use of the term has quadrupled this year, says the publisher of the dictionary.
"We know that artificial intelligence has been a big focus this year for the way it has developed and become relevant, it has been incorporated into our lives like e-mail, streaming platforms or any everyday technology that once seemed to it belonged to the future".
The BBC asked for a comment from ChatGPT who replied: "The selection of AI as Word of the Year by the Collins Dictionary reflects the profound impact of artificial intelligence in our rapidly evolving world, where innovation and transformation are driven by the power of algorithms and data".
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will welcome 100 world leaders, academics, tech personalities and AI researchers to a summit to discuss how to maximize the benefits of powerful technology while minimizing the risks.
