Middle East flares up again/ Iran violates ceasefire, fires missiles at Israel

This unexpected development comes just hours after the announcement that Israel had agreed to a ceasefire brokered by the US and Qatar.

The Israeli military announced today that it had identified missiles launched from Iran, raising the alert across the country and ordering residents to immediately take shelter.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its air defense systems, including the Iron Dome, are in action to neutralize the threat, while the situation remains tense and the details of the attack still unclear.

“We have identified missiles launched from Iran towards Israel. Our air defense systems are operating to intercept the threat. We urge the public to go to shelters and remain there until further notice ,” an IDF spokesman said.

Israel's defense minister says he has instructed the military to "respond forcefully to Iran's ceasefire violation with intensive strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran."

"I have instructed the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) in coordination with the Prime Minister to continue the intensive operation to attack Tehran and disrupt the regime's targets and terrorist infrastructure in Tehran ," he said.

The unexpected development comes just hours after it was announced that Israel had agreed to a ceasefire brokered by the US and Qatar, after nearly ten days of conflict with Iran. Earlier, Iran's foreign minister had said that Tehran would only stop the attacks if Israel did the same, hinting that any violation of the ceasefire could lead to a new escalation.

Iran has yet to officially confirm the reported attack, and information on the number, type or targets of the missiles remains limited. Analysts speculate that this could be a limited action by Iran-linked groups or a possible violation of the agreement, which could endanger the fragile peace in the region.

The Israel Airports Authority has closed the country's airspace for the second time in 24 hours, suspending all flights until the situation is clarified. Meanwhile, international attention has turned back to the Middle East, where a newly reached ceasefire appears to be being tested, while the conflict in Gaza remains unresolved.

Israeli officials have warned that any violation of the ceasefire will be met with a harsh response, while the world awaits the response of the Trump administration and Qatari mediators to avoid a new escalation of violence.
