Emmanuel Macron may resign as president of France after his party's failure in the European Parliament elections.
This was reported by Europe 1 , citing sources close to Macron.
According to them, the French president and his circle are seriously discussing this option to improve his party's chances in the elections to "show that he has made a bold decision".
"The resignation of the president is not taboo, today we have to anticipate all scenarios. He is ready to sacrifice the end of his five-year mandate" , said one of the close associates of the president.
If he resigns, Macron will not be able to run for president again, as this is his second term. Although resignation, according to sources close to the president, remains on the table, it is not "the most preferred option".
