International reports indicate that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are suspected of carrying out covert airstrikes on Iranian targets in response to previous Iranian attacks in the region.
According to these sources, Iran has previously carried out massive attacks with thousands of missiles and drones on Gulf countries, prompting a counter-reaction from Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. However, neither Saudi Arabia nor the Emirates have officially confirmed these military operations.
In public statements, both countries emphasize the right to self-defense and state that they aim to avoid further escalation of the conflict.
According to reports by international media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, Saudi warplanes and Emirati forces have carried out attacks on Iranian targets in recent months, including installations in southern Iran.
A source close to the authorities in Tehran has confirmed an Emirati attack on Iranian territory, while it is reported that some operations were carried out in coordination with the United States and Israel.
Meanwhile, several other Gulf countries, such as Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, are said to have not participated in these actions and have not been persuaded to engage in military operations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused the Emirates of involvement in attacks against Iran, calling them a violation of international law.
Experts estimate that, if these operations are confirmed, they mark a significant change in the dynamics of the conflict, where the Gulf countries are moving from a defensive role to a more active military role, with the main goal of deterring Iranian attacks.
