There is no end to extreme weather madness this year. Although we all know that it is unusual to have snow in the month of August, this is what happened in some regions of Italy this Saturday.
The sudden drop in temperatures has brought snowfall on the top of Marmolada, as this morning, the shelter of Punta Penia (3343 meters) has completely turned white, according to some videos posted on social networks.
The summit of Civetta, in the Zoldo area, has also turned white, while the minimum recorded in Marmolada this morning was 3 degrees below zero. "After the days spent under fog and low clouds, the snow has returned to Punta Penia", said Flavio Tolin, of marmoladameteo.it.
In the plains, temperatures drop by about 10 degrees. This morning, the thermometers in the cities fluctuated from 15 to 17 degrees.
The entire region was engulfed by heavy rainfall, with accumulations of up to 50-60 millimeters in the Rovigo area and in the southernmost part.
