Spain says "NO" to Trump, rejects military mission in the Strait of
Pedro Sanchez

Spain will not participate in any military operation to secure the Strait of Hormuz. This position was confirmed by Defense Minister Margarita Robles and Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, who consider the US and Israeli war against Iran to be illegal.

The left-wing coalition government led by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has openly criticized the offensive and has also banned US aircraft from using joint military bases in the south of the country.

Defense Minister Margarita Robles rejected US President Donald Trump's request for military support in securing this strategic sea route, which has been de facto blocked to Iranian oil tankers.

"Spain will never accept temporary measures, because the objective must be to end the war, and for it to end now ," Robles declared.

Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares also stressed that the European Union should focus on reducing tensions and not escalating the conflict.

"We should not do anything that would further increase tension or further escalate the situation," he said in a statement to reporters in Brussels.

Meanwhile, several other European Union countries, including Germany, Italy and Greece, have signaled that they will not participate in military operations in the Strait of Hormuz. Some other countries, such as Denmark, have not yet made a final decision.
