At least five people have been killed and several others injured after a shooting incident in the city of Stade, in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany.
According to the Lüneburg Police, which is coordinating communication on the case, two suspects have been arrested and there is currently no longer any danger to the population.
The incident took place on Monday, June 29, on Dankersstraße, where police conducted an extensive operation and urged residents to avoid the area.
Authorities have not yet given a definitive version of how the attack took place. Stade police are collecting evidence and analyzing information, and more details are expected to be released this afternoon. The motive for the incident also remains unclear.
A police spokesman told the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) news agency that the shooting took place near a youth center. Meanwhile, RTL television reported that the incident took place inside a youth center. Dankersstraße also houses a residential unit for mothers and children.
