Preliminary information and verifications suggest that Arbër Misja, a customs official and husband of Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu, has been mentioned in anti-crime agency files and in the testimonies of persons investigated for criminal activity. Despite these indications, his name does not appear in official proceedings, while institutions have limited verifications only to his wife's asset declarations. The case raises questions about the standards of investigation and equality before the law at the highest levels of the administration.
"Pamphlet" has received some information about the involvement in illegal activities of the husband of the former Director General of Public Administration, former Minister of Health, former Minister of Interior and, for the past 3 weeks, Deputy Prime Minister.
During his 20 years in the directorship positions in 3 sectors of the General Directorate of Customs, the name of her husband, Arbër Misja, has been totally in the shadows, even after February 2022, when he was appointed a board member at the Securities Printing House.
But according to the information received and the preliminary verifications that we have conducted and are investigating, it turns out that he has been filed in the files of Albanian anti-crime agencies and partner agencies, which track criminal activities on their own behalf and exchange information.
In addition to keeping the name of Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu's husband in the shadows, his involvement in dirty work has also been kept secret, even though it has emerged in investigative files of criminal figures and groups targeted in Albania and under investigation by international partner agencies.
The data raises suspicions that Arbër Misja has left traces of dirty work during his current duties as General Director of the Customs Laboratory, but also in his previous duties as former Director of the Customs Administration and former Director of the Intelligence Unit for Border Management at the General Directorate of Customs.
In addition to randomly appearing during the investigation of exponents and criminal groups, the name of the "powerful" director Arbër Misja has also emerged during the investigation and testimonies of persons arrested for criminal activities related to customs control activities through the land, sea and air borders and in manipulation of analyses of seized goods.
There have been and are new indications that, within the smuggled goods, in addition to cases where they should have been blocked, there were also narcotics and ingredients for their preparation, which the customs laboratory control directorate, where the husband of Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu is the director, did not declare as such, falsifying the analyses, but also regarding the quality of fuels, cigarettes, beverages and some food products.
But in no case has his name become part of the investigative files of anti-crime and justice, nor to question him as mentioned in the investigations and investigations, nor even as the head of the relevant sectors that have favored criminal activities through customs.
The only action taken by the institutions was the formal reading of Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu's asset declarations, but she started them in 2022 and declared "misdeeds", when she should have started them in 2013, after she was appointed Director of Public Administration./ Pamphlet
