Will official Athens allow Greek citizens to have the right to self-declare their nationality?
Whoever thought that Qirjako Miçotaqi's presence as host at Janullatos' funeral in the middle of Tirana, or his statement that Anastasi was a 'beacon of Hellenism', was the extreme of the Greek offensive, is wrong.
The 'Trojan Horse', more than in a blind tool like Fredi Beleri or a "helenist par excellence" like His Grace, lies in an oppression that the socialist majority, together with Sali Berisha, have approved in the Assembly.
Regarding the minority law, Edi Rama's government has issued a decision that is more scandalous than the law itself.
According to the decision, every citizen of the Republic of Albania, regardless of the area where they reside, is free to express their desire as to which nationality or minority they belong.
The decision also establishes a commission from the Ministry of Interior that can verify the process, but this commission does not have the right to overturn the self-declaration. Which legalizes an 'ex officio' standard, where everyone can declare their nationality, even though there are incontestable civil status documents that show the origin of each citizen. Where they were born, their parents, but also their nationality.
This decision by the Rama government sets a dangerous precedent that seems unlikely to be implemented in the May 11 elections, but later.
It is likely that in the next municipal elections, we will have a fait accompli when, with the lobbying of official Athens, the residents of the municipality of Himara, for example but not only, declare themselves Greek. Since the decision clearly states that in this case the region falls outside the official territories and4 the Albanian state recognizes them as a minority area.
Territory that official Tirana has ceded by giving the minority the municipalities of Dropulli and Finiqi as minority areas.
But with the new decision, there is a risk that the minority border will increase even further. The municipality of Himara seems to be the next battleground for Athens, but chances are that it will not end there. After all, Greece has had and still has appetites in the Southeast of the country.
However, self-declaration as a political weapon of Athens has not achieved a triumph, especially with the claim that all "homogeneous" should be called Greek. Which has not happened in all these years in Greece. Almost all immigrants, even if baptized, have declared themselves Albanian.
The danger lies in the municipality of Himara, where it is likely that with a more complicated operation the darkness of the Bollano case will return, where the population registers will not be taken as a basis but self-declarations. But whose? This is evasive in the decision, and there are many speculative possibilities. Athens is not easily fooled by Edi Rama without receiving guarantees. However, here remains the will of the coastal residents, for whom no one can be an advocate.
And since we are talking about a standard that Tirana is setting, will Athens allow Greek citizens to have the right to self-declaration? Because it can't be otherwise.../ Pamphlet
