But now we Albanians elect the head of state by free vote, and if a time comes when a fool leads us, the fault is not the fool's, but that of those who elected him by free vote.
The difference between the wisdom and foolishness of an individual is like the difference between a beautiful spring day with sunshine and breeze, and a dark winter day with rain and suffering.
However, this is not a burden for the entire society, because it only weighs on the family that has the sick person in its bosom; whereas it is a burden for society when such a mentally ill person comes and leads your country.
And we must always remember that we Albanians, in our long, thousand-year history, have experienced several such cases.
That's how it was at the time.
But now, in this modern age we are living in, such a fate is unlikely to happen to us.
There have been two great historical evils for a nation, in function of its governance: the folly of the king and civil war.
But now we Albanians elect the head of state by free vote, and if a time comes when a fool leads us, the fault is not the fool's, but that of those who elected him by free vote.
And we must remember that time holds within itself this electoral opportunity, therefore, the depth and mental clarity of voters in free elections must be a collective necessity.
