I see that Trump does not yet have the Balkans on his agenda, but first sends his close people to study it and then to act.
I didn't vote for Trump because first I was in Greece and second even if I were in the USA I still wouldn't vote because it's a matter of convictions. So this is democracy when you vote freely even though you see defeat ahead but we must learn to live as losers because we all love the diversity of convictions, some lost and some won. Because if we think differently that we never love defeat then we have fallen into the trap of authoritarianism.
In this brief analysis, I want to explain that when I vote in the US, I first think as an Albanian who puts the interests of my nation above everything else. The question arises, do my compatriots do the same, or are there other interests that they should look at first. For example, we all want the growth of the American economy because it increases our well-being, that is, of our Albanian families living in the US. To be honest, in all these years that I have been in the US, I have experienced the change of three presidents, Obama, Trump and Biden, but I have not seen any difference that one of them significantly increased our well-being.
I say this to the common people, of which I am a part. Perhaps Albanian businessmen in the US have other positions and see their interests differently when a new President comes. What I want to say is that our internal interests are not very visible and do not play at all in our welfare. But what worries me is what line the new American administration will follow in foreign policy, especially with my nation that lives in three countries in the hottest region, which has not yet eliminated the problems that our neighbors have always hurt us, killing our indigenous identity.
I see that Trump does not yet have the Balkans on his agenda, but first he sends his close people to study it and then to act. There is no one closer to the current American president than his son Donald Trump Jr. Which means that no one can deny that he does not listen to him. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either naive or a hater who has put his narrow party-related interests before the nation. To remind you of how close Trump is to his son, the latter's visit to Greenland suggests that the Trump family, father and son, are one. Donald Trump Jr arrived in Greenland a few weeks after his father said he wanted the US to take control of the autonomous Danish territory.
So here we see that his son is much more active on the strange issues that President Trump highlighted during the electoral campaign and today he is making some of them a reality. It is enough to take a look at Donald Trump Jr.'s Instagram to understand that his publications touch on the hottest topics that have territorial goals, such as Canada as the 52nd state of the USA, the Panama Canal, the former Gulf of Mexico, now of America. So all of these have been put into discussion by President Trump, which in some cases has been put into action, such as the naming of the Gulf of America. Whoever says that Donald Trump Jr.'s voice is not official is wrong, he is even more official than the members of the cabinet, because he is his father's background. What President Trump has said, his son has put into action either to study or to discuss with the factors so that his father has a complete picture of what he has in mind to do. Therefore, even with the policy of relations with Kosovo, we do not know what plan he has in mind to bring them closer to a table with the Serbs. What we do know is that his son visited Serbian President Vučić and made his strange anti-Albanian statements.
His recent visit to Serbia is not unintentional, to whom he "sells" the policy of his father's ancestors to his enemies for very narrow interests, not least as a grandson of the Slavs who still think they are superior to other nations. It is no wonder that all the extremist journalists who hold the Trump line came to the same conclusions that the US has taken revenge on Serbia with its bombings, while the reality is that Serbia has taken revenge on the indigenous Albanian peoples in Kosovo with its genocidal mass extermination policy. None of these, like Trump's son or the fanatical journalists, spoke about the butcher of the Balkans, Milosevic, as the sole cause of the wars in the former Yugoslavia, but who they want to forget by making the Serbs victims of American bombings for their own internal purposes, to avoid their own internal problems. Therefore, it is time for us to wake up to the fact that the enemy is acting and when he starts to make his anti-Albanian dream a reality, it will be too late for our nation.
Maybe then we, the Albanians of America, will understand whether the vote for Trump went in the right direction.
