The division over the Trump-Zelensky debate in Albania is linked to the need to

The idea that the US would declare you "non grata" if you were corrupt, or that SPAK, supported by the US, would persecute you if the American ambassador mentioned you, or that you cannot go to Europe without wealth transparency, etc., have created a kind of stress in the society of the young Albanian rich through corruption.

The reasons why people in Albania are divided between Trump and Zelensky have nothing to do with the war in Ukraine or the new world order being changed by the new US policy. The reasons are entirely local and mainly related to Trump.

There are two categories that sympathize with Trump in Albania today.

The first is the former Soviet nostalgics, whose lips have been cracked for thirty years now that we've all been cursing Russia, while those poor people don't dare to defend it and even less are they free to feel proud as Soviet nostalgics.

An entire generation of Albanian citizens, connected to the period of coexistence with the Soviet Union until the 1960s, educated in Moscow and their collaborators, now feel that the moment of truth has finally come, as the US itself is becoming "with Russia." And here all the admiration goes to President Trump.

The second category, which is mostly young and active in politics and the media, has a joy that is not related to Russia, even though they pretend to be pro-Russian in this case. They are ready to tear Zelensky apart or defend Trump in that quarrel, not for Trump's and Zelensky's reasons, but for their own personal reasons.

And their reasons are the need to create a new mess, to erase their problems.

This is a category of people for whom Albania's stagnation in relations with the US, the new justice system, or even these rigid rules towards the EU, which require more and more loss of personal freedom and more transparency, have created a nightmare.

Donald Trump seems to have freed them from this. The idea that what Trump is doing will cause a mess and will abandon those processes that have been initiated, both in justice and transparency, is a very big reason for this category to be 100% with Trump. They are ready to massacre Zelensky and call for Albania to change its rules too.

I even saw a former Minister of Justice, one of the most corrupt of the Berisha era, calling for us to now create a new doctrine of justice, adapted to the "Trump Doctrine" of justice. I don't know the latter, but I know the desire of everyone who is afraid of justice to start from scratch. Now it's up to us to destroy the justice made according to the old America and create justice according to the new America. Just as we were asked when Stalin died, to become like Khrushchev.

In this regard, Sali Berisha's joy towards Zelensky, whom he treated as a socialist patron, is also interpreted.

So, all of this has nothing to do with what Trump and Zelensky are arguing about, but with how this debate will affect their lives here.

And in this entire microclimate created by the enthusiasm of this category, no one asks the main question, to which no one can give any answer today:

What will happen to Kosovo if, after Russia's shock, the Balkan front opens and Pristina starts lecturing the US on how to behave?

They erase in two minutes all the history they have made up to now. And then our greatest patriots, led by Sali Berisha, who are practically more Putin fans than anyone else today, will tell us again that it is the fault of the Kosovo leadership that got on the nerves of the US, that Kosovo would not disappear.

As they said the first time, the idea of dividing Kosovo was Thaçi and Vučić's, not Trump's.

So, don't expect that in Albania the division between Trump and Zelensky will be done for national interest. It is simply done for personal concerns or old Soviet nostalgia.

As is the problem of Berisha, who hopes that Trump will remove his "non grata" status, and of course, save him from SPAK and the new justice system.
