Other details are being reported regarding the mafia execution that occurred on Sunday evening in Elbasan, where the victim was 43-year-old Edmond Hyka alias Mondi Mehalla.
The latter was shot as soon as he got into his vehicle, after leaving the office of one of the businesses he owned, at the entrance to the gas station.
The police are searching for the suspected perpetrators, while several Audi vehicles, similar to the one shown on the security cameras, are being searched, and which are suspected to have been driven by the perpetrators of the incident.
In this context, in addition to a burned Audi found in Miraka, police have also identified another vehicle suspected of being involved in the incident, BW reports.
This vehicle was located in the city of Durrës and was seized for in-depth expertise, as it is suspected that it may have been used in the preparatory stages or after the execution.
Both vehicles are being analyzed by forensic experts for biological, dactyloscopic traces and material evidence that could lead to the identification of the perpetrators.
The murder of businessman Mëhalla occurred at around 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, near his business on the Southern Ring Road of Elbasan. According to experts, he was shot with three bullets, two in the head, indicating a well-organized execution.
The businessman, according to preliminary information, had just left his office and got into the vehicle at the time of the attack. The collision that occurred a few days ago for reasons that are still unclear is being taken seriously as one of the main leads in the investigation.
Today, following the investigative actions, a completely burned-out "Audi" vehicle was found in the village of Miraka, suspected to be the vehicle in which the perpetrators fled the scene. This discovery, together with the second vehicle identified in Durrës, is being considered key evidence for unraveling the assassination plot.
Meanwhile, the police have set up numerous checkpoints at all exits of the city and continue to conduct field checks in homes and secondary roads.
At least 15 people have been arrested so far and are being questioned to shed light on the circumstances of the murder. The special investigative group, led by the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office, is working to collect any evidence, including reviewing video footage of the area, that may help identify the assailants.
Official sources confirm that Mehalla had criminal records in the field of narcotics and illegal possession of weapons. Also, the conflict that occurred a few days before the execution is being considered a possible lead related to the motive of the incident.
Investigations are continuing in several parallel directions, while the perpetrators still remain unidentified since even the evidence obtained from the questions so far of the escorted citizens does not provide clear clues to the investigation's track. His relatives have also been questioned and may shed light on identifying incidents or problems that the 43-year-old may have faced recently.
