The police of Lezha have prevented serious criminal events that would be carried out with remote-controlled mines.
A 24-year-old man was arrested by the police, after he was caught with 2 C4 explosive mines, which he had hidden in his body.
Arkil Selimi was transporting them from Fushë-Kruja to Lezha where he would sell them to criminal groups.
"The police prevent serious criminal events that would be carried out with remote-controlled mines. With 2 remote-controlled mines, hidden in the body from Fushë Kruja in the direction of Lezha, to be sold to criminal groups, the timely intervention of the Police puts in handcuffs 24-year-old. 2 mines (with C4 explosives), with remote control for remote detonation, are seized.
The Sector for the Investigation of Serious Crimes, in cooperation with the Section against Illegal Trafficking, the Operational Support Section of the Investigation, the Operational Forces and the Special Force "Eagle" of the DVP Lezhë, following the national mega-operation "Rule of Law" and in based on the information provided by the police intelligence, that a citizen from Fushë Kruja, was traveling towards Lezha and had remote control mines with him to sell to criminal groups, they organized and finalized the police operation coded "Horizonti".
The Police Services have located in the vicinity of Milot, the suspected citizen AS. During the physical check, 2 remote control mines with C4 explosives, for remote detonation, were found hidden in this citizen's body. From the investigations so far, it is suspected that this citizen assembled the mines himself, with the aim of selling them to criminal groups. At the end of the first procedural actions, the citizen AS, 24 years old, resident of Fushë Krujë, was arrested in flagrante delicto.
In cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, the work continues for the complete documentation of the circumstances of the case, as well as for the identification and capture of other citizens involved in this criminal activity. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Lezhë, for further actions", the police informs.
