An Italian citizen was arrested in Durrës after trying to smuggle firearms to Italy. Giovanni Bedini was put in handcuffs, while 1 automatic firearm, military ammunition, 16,300 euros and 100 pounds were seized.

For the attempted firearm trafficking, the Italian citizen GB, 66 years old, was arrested, while for the other case, EH, 31 years old, the owner of the money, was prosecuted.
The Border Police Services of the port of Durrës, following entry/exit controls, based on risk analysis, with a focus on preventing and combating border illegalities, have struck a case of attempted firearms trafficking, at the exit of RSh, and a case of non-declaration of money, in the entry.
For these cases, investigative and procedural actions were carried out by the Crime Investigation Specialists of the Durrës Local Directorate for Border and Migration, who arrested the GB citizen in the act for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in arms and ammunition", and referred the materials in the Prosecutor's Office, where the proceedings have started in a free state for the citizen EH, for the criminal offense "Failure to declare cash and valuables at the border".
The procedural materials have been handed over to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the Durrës General Jurisdiction, for further actions", the police informs.
