Transferred to the women's sector after suspicions of assassination, how Jani Aliaj was killed in a high-security prison in Greece

Jani Aliaj, the 49-year-old Albanian man who is suspected of being the victim of a paid assassination attempt, was transferred to a men's prison in Greece, despite threats against him.

Information about the plan to kill Aliaj was early for the Greek police.

Greek national television ANT1 reported that Aliaj had previously been transferred to the women's prison for protection reasons, given the existence of a death contract against him.

According to Greek journalist Panagiotis Stathis, “ Suddenly, a short while ago, it was decided that he would be transferred back to the main men's branch, for no reason.”

The same sources report that two months ago Aliaj had received his first attack on him in prison and had survived, but despite knowledge of the danger to his life, no protective measures were taken.

The ANT1 journalist adds that the situation shows great responsibility, both criminal and disciplinary, and raises questions for law enforcement agencies: " Are those responsible being sought? If a murder were to occur at the Police Station, the entire department would be disbanded. Now, are they just spectators of crimes, without any responsibility?"
