PD Vice President, Oerd Bylykbashi, during a round table with the parties, where the electoral reform was discussed, said that the vote of immigrants is the largest pool of free votes.
Bylykbashi said that the public administration should not participate during the election campaign, but this was not accepted. He emphasized that the system with an international mail can be applied for the votes of immigrants.
He further added that the socialists have deliberately discussed for 4 years to introduce the vote of the diaspora as a right. Bylykbashi said that what you have asked for is to remove the Ministry of the Interior and make it the CEC and we have asked for an element that does not require the legal address of a citizen who is outside Albania, as a condition for having the right to vote.
Bylykbashi said that there are over 2.2 million Albanians living abroad, while only 18 thousand are registered, or less than 1%, and even these are selectively chosen.
The DP deputy, who is also the co-chairman of the electoral reform commission, said that the socialists do not have the will to implement the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the vote of immigrants, for whom he said that they are a base that not only cannot to be caught, but they can affect the rotation of power.
"We requested that penalties be included in the Penal Code, but it is not accepted by the socialists, as it is a patronage system", said Bylykbashi.
He said that the door has been closed in any case to any possibility of political rotation through votes. Bylykbashi emphasized the electoral coalitions that are not allowed, while he stated that if we had coalitions, we would have a Socialist Party with 69 mandates, without the possibility of having the necessary mandates to form the government, while in 2021- in, benefited from 5 additional mandates, going to 74.
