The long article for January 21st does not talk about the murders, but builds a procedural trap that aims to drag out the investigation against Sali Berisha at SPAK...
Ilir Meta's text from the detention of 313 is neither a delayed confession of conscience nor a disclosure of facts about January 21, 2011. It avoids the essence of the event, the murder of four citizens, and focuses on a conspiratorial narrative that aims to build procedural obstacles for the criminal investigation against Sali Berisha. The confession functions as a legal instrument prepared in advance by the former prime minister's defense, with the aim of dragging a new file to the Criminal Court, a tactic tried earlier in other cases.
The long sheet written by Ilir Meta in his cell in the 313 detention center did not surprise the public much. It received little or no comment in the media. When, in fact, the very desire to write, by someone who had long hated pen and ink, is news in itself.
Meanwhile, the other news was Ilir Meta's long piece, where he tells "his truth about January 21st."
The former president does not talk at all about what happened on January 21, 2011, but only about the events that preceded that day, when the protest erupted in reaction to the Meta-Prifti video issue.
In his long and linguistically careful writing, Ilir Meta attempts not only to refute the facts that Albanians have seen in the famous video, where his image finally fell to the ground, but also to present the murders as part of a previously prepared "plan".
A typical "flat earth" conspiracy, because it takes a truly "genius" mind to believe the version that the murders were prepared by people connected to Edi Rama, while they were carried out by Sali Berisha's guards and bodyguards, who then locked them up in the Prime Minister's office, shut down the prosecution, deleted the servers, obstructed justice and threatened the Chief Prosecutor and the President.
So, "Ilir Meta's truth" is neither a resurgent passion to finally tell after a life spent in lies; nor another misstep with which he has entertained the public for years, when he climbed scaffolding, peaks, and iron bars.
The rabbit hiding in the bushes of the former president's confession about January 21 is nothing more than a procedural trap, to delay as much as possible the expected incrimination of Sali Berisha by SPAK for this event.
This entire narrative is a classic example of the "devil in the details", carefully prepared by Dr. Berisha's clever and cunning lawyers.
If Sali Berisha is incriminated, namely declared a defendant and a new investigation file is opened, the lawyers will use Ilir Meta's story in the GJKKO, at least to postpone the start of the investigation to the Greek calendar. A tactic used successfully in the case of the "Partizani" file, which, although it has been opened for three years, has not yet been tried.
Meanwhile, the rest of the "rediscovered narrator", including September 14, 1998 or the aftermath of Azem Hajdari's assassination, is nothing more than a garnish on a large plate, where no part is "eaten" with the other, because they are different menus.
The fundamental problem is that Ilir Meta, both in the case of September 14 and January 21, speaks of situations that occurred before a very serious act or crime, whether it be the attack on institutions or the murder of four citizens on the boulevard.
If Ilir Meta knew about these events in advance, why didn't he stop them or at least try to stop them? Because word gets out and facts are known.
When September 14th happened, Ilir Meta, riding in a police vehicle with Anastas Angjeli, went to the Ministry of Interior, declaring that he himself would soon be prime minister and that Fatos Nano had fled.
Meta does not mention these episodes, or perhaps he "forgot them". However, no one commented on them, as, as if on command, the debate was directed differently, so as not to scare Ilir Meta's rabbit in the bushes of "truth". /Pamphlet
