England have completed their World Cup campaign with a 6-4 victory over France in the third-place play-off. The spectacle in Miami featured 10 goals and excitement until the final seconds.
The Three Lions started the match perfectly, taking the lead in the third minute. Declan Rice fired a powerful shot from distance, which ended up in the net for 1-0.
The English midfielder was again the protagonist in the 18th minute, this time as the author of the assist for Ezri Konsa, who doubled the score with a header.
Thomas Tuchel's team continued to dominate in the first half. In the 37th minute, Marcus Rashford set up Bukayo Saka, who scored the third goal, while in the first half's extra time, the Arsenal striker scored his second personal goal, sending England to the break with a 4-0 lead.
France responded immediately after returning to the field. Kylian Mbappe narrowed the gap in the 48th minute after an assist from Michael Oliseh, while just six minutes later Bradley Barkola scored to make it 4-2.
The "Roosters" believed in the reversal when Mbappe scored his second personal goal in the 66th minute, bringing the score to 4-3.
However, in the 85th minute, England won a penalty after Malo Gusto brought down Djed Spence. From the penalty spot, Bukayo Saka made no mistake, completing his personal hat-trick and restoring the lead to two goals.
The drama continued in extra time. Osmane Dembele scored in the 96th minute to make it 5-4, giving France hope of a last-minute equaliser. But just two minutes later, Jude Bellingham produced a fantastic individual effort, beating several defenders and sealing the 6-4 victory for England.
Thanks to this success, England finished the World Cup in third place and secured the bronze medal, while France ranked fourth in the tournament. This was also Didier Deschamps' last match in charge of the French national team.
