A group of protesters gathered this Friday in front of the Prime Minister's Office building, awaiting the end of the government meeting and the exit of the ministers.
The rally follows protests in recent days, where participants have expressed dissatisfaction with the government and demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
At the same time, the Council of Ministers approved a series of decisions, including the indexation of pensions by 2.7%, a measure that enters into force on July 1 and, according to the government, will benefit about 900 thousand pensioners.
The Minister of Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, stated that indexation will be applied to old-age pensions and special pensions.
" We will index pensions by 2.7 percent. There are 900 thousand beneficiaries in total who, as of July 1, will have the opportunity to receive this increase ," said Ibrahimaj.
According to calculations based on an average pension, the increase translates into several hundred lek per month, while the concrete impact varies depending on the amount of pension each pensioner receives.
In addition to pension indexation, the government also approved 300 soft loan quotas with zero interest for public administration employees, as well as other decisions in the field of education and the European integration process.
Meanwhile, outside the Prime Minister's Office building, protesters continued to chant against the government, while the presence of police forces was increased to ensure the smooth running of the rally.
